Last weekend we travelled to Mâcon of France for the 6:th round of the UIM F2 World Championship 2016. Due to technical problems we unfortunately missed the race in Lithuania, but now we were ready to go again.
The motivation was on top. With a new engine mounted on the back of the boat we hoped to avoid all forms of technical problems. The free practice went quite okay and we had the 12:th fastest time. But during the first qualifying session the conditions got rougher and we did struggle heavily. The result of the qualifying was a major disappointment, just 20:th fastest time. However, for those not qualified for the main race there is a second chance race. Oskar managed to claim the 17:th of 18 starting position in the second chance race and was therefore qualified for the Grand Prix of Mâcon.
In the Grand Prix the aim was set on finishing the race and hopefully advances a few positions. It turn out to be a spectacular race with many incidents. Oskar avoided all types of incidents and manage to finish the race in 8:th position. This is the best result so far in F2 for the team. We are very satisfied with this result and the 3 WC-points we won.
We are not satisfied with the boat’s performance. We will work hard to find out how to get the boat to work in rougher conditions and hopefully aim higher than before!
